Canada, I Am 30 Years Old.

So, I turn 30 today. I'm in Montreal with L Boogie. I went to Drawn & Quarterly store, after hanging with some Hasidic Jews, and put my face in the sun. Bye, 20's. You were awesome, confusing, fleeting and super educational. I found the love of my life when I was 23. I moved to New York at 25. I started to write fiction seriously. I've done some dumb shit, but am extraordinarily joyful to be where I'm at right now. I guess I'm supposed to be bummed by the impossibility of time stopping and, you know, dying. But, I'm just fortunate to be able to go back to NY and focus on finishing this novel, work on a web series script, hang out, enjoy life some more, and get married this November. Pretty rad, eh? I'm not sure what I thought 30 would be like when I was, say, 15. But, it's pretty amazing. Thanks to my smart, unpretentious and warm-hearted friends and my special ladyfriend, L Boogie.

Canada is where I'm glad I turned 30. Especially, Montreal, surrounded by the French language. I can speak a little bit, but I feel foreign. I think that's a good feeling. Getting older is foreign. I feel foreign in my own body. But, it's also a very welcoming place, warm with many nice and happy people. I couldn't ask for anything else.

Except, you know, to be 20 again.

:)
