Years end, we drowned

I submitted my ballot for Idolator's replacement for the Village Voice's longstanding Pazz & Jop list. Lists are like wars or bad sneakers--silly. I'd rather be reading a Thomas M. Disch novel or watching Tom and Jerry cartoons. With blogs, hungry college students and trees taking back their magazines, criticism seems to be becoming more nonlinear, less hierarchy and more horizontal. Deleuze would be proud. Lester Bangs would not be proud. I'm glad Matos asked me to do this because lists are so fun and arbitrary and either way, Jace already told you that last year. So, without further arbitrary ado, here is my lame list for lame artists of the lame year and all that stuff in no particular order.
Liars, Drum's Not Dead
Ghostface Killah, Fishscale
Thom Yorke, The Eraser
Sonic Youth, Rather Ripped
TV on the Radio, Return to Cookie Mountain

Sunset Rubdown, Shut Up I Am Dreaming
