if anti-pop consortium wrote science-fiction

Ted Chiang is old news to any witty SF reader. But, many folks need to read this guy's work. He writes slow like Junot Diaz or Djuna Barnes. 8 stories and most of them have won top awards, make up his only collection, Stories of Your Life. Cold prose, meticulously beat-matched (word-matched?) and filled with wonderful ideas. Smart fiction without the pretentiousness. I heard about him from Jace, who posted about him a while back.
